You can't get them all. But sometimes you miss STAA and COBR and get stuck with CTHR and HHGP. You just have to put a smile on your face and show up again the next day and review why you picked two losers and missed two winners.
Merry Christmas Everyone! I will be back full-time again on Tuesday.

Merry Christmas to you!!

Best Wishes for a Healthy and Happy Holiday season!
You are probably too young to remember but if memory serves me correct there was a young fellow quite a few years ago, a "CANSLIM" disciple who won stock picking contests sponsored by IBD and even made many appearances together with Wm O'Neil on TV and seminars.
I forget his name but he and Wm O'Neil started an open-end mutual fund called appropriately, "NEW AMERICA FUND"! It did NOT do well and I don't remember why it disappeared. Perhaps, it was hit by 1987 crash, maybe it merged, .....it just never gained traction.
Do you remember this fellow and/or know what happened to the fund??
What is your opinion on DDD? Have you sold this stock yet or are you waiting for a big bounce? The stock had its peak about 2-3 days ago.
Merry Christmas, I read your blog everyday and enjoy it.
I had a question about MERQE - saw it as a short as it broke through its 50 day, but didn't do anything because I wasn't sure about the whole delisting thing it is going through. If it is delisted, does that affect me being able to cover my shorts when it goes down? If it is given an extension, does this cause a gap up that goes against me? Just curious of your experiences with this type of situation. Thanks for all of your comments and posts - I enjoy them very much. Happy Holidays!
Ivanka, Merry Christmas. I hope your Christmas/New Year week is full of joy and fun. Thank you for being one of my readers. I wish you the best, Ivanka.

I know who you are talking about. :)
This fellow was David Ryan. I do not know what happened to the fund but have learned many people that try to strictly run a fund based on CANSLIM principles deviate from those rules so often it is shameful they claim CANSLIM is their method.
There has been a recent fund created that is called the "canslim fund." Whatever it is, they advertise in IBD but are still too young to have a track record.
To show that it can work just look at CGM Focus. Ken Heebner may not follow it to the T, but he uses almost all of its principles to hold the best of the best. I dont know a better fund manager than Ken Heebner, at this point.
As for David Ryan. I have no clue what happened to him. Maybe he runs in-house money for IBD. Those boys have returns on par with the AAII study.
And if no one knows about that study, you should check it out. Since 1998 a real time, independant study by the AAII shows IBD to be one of the top two strategies. It is up 800%+, from 1998 to current. The SP500 is up 22% during that time.
Anyone that follows CANSLIM to the T, should never ever lose money. That makes me think David Ryan is still around and probably works for IBD. I just dont know.
But I will tell you this. I LOVE GUESSING!! LOL.

I have sold 10% of DDD on 22nd. Still holding rest.
I have NO opinion on DDD, except that it better keep going up or I will sell it.
Merry Christmas to you my friend. I am very happy and it puts a smile on my face that you enjoy this blog.

I would avoid stocks that are close to delisting. But normally you have plenty of time and heads-up so you can bail before the delisting. You will be forced to cover your shorts before the delisting, anyway.
I can tell you this much, MERQ is a good short and before it delist will have to trade down to single digits or move to the pink sheets. If that is the case you will be sitting on a pretty profit. No matter what just have a solid plan to cut your losses incase something wrong/bad happens.
All delistings are different. If this stock delist, it isnt doing it at 28 bucks. When it does though, no one knows how it will react. History says the big move down has yet to come before it actually gets delisted.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
